When I was twenty one years old my Aunt Sarah from Canada gave me one hundred thousand pounds. She had moved there years ago and married a very rich man. She had done the same to my older brother, Luke, when he had got to twenty one years old. He had bought a garage and then he added an extension building. He had got so much business that he had got quite wealthy. He had bought an old property and then done a house refurbishment. I didn't know what I should do with my money. I wrote to Aunt Sarah to say thank you.

I looked on the Internet at some property listings to see what sort of property I might get for one hundred thousand pounds. Then I had a big disappointment. I got made redundant from my job. The swimming pool closed down. I knew that less customers came along swimming when the admission charges went up so very high. Tracy got a job in a clothes shop. I didn't fancy that kind of work. Laura got a job as a classroom assistant in a school. I applied for lots of different jobs but it didn't seem like any company wanted to employ me.

I knew that I was lucky that I was still living with my parents and I had more than one hundred thousand pounds in my bank account. I went over to Luke's garage. Next door he told me the a mini skip hire company were looking for a receptionist. So I asked if he could get me an application form. The manager rang me up and asked if I could start the very next day. I made bookings for mini skip hire. It cost seventy pounds for a size one and ninety pounds for a size two. The mini skip hire was popular with people that were doing DIY projects.

An estate agent phoned me on Saturday morning and asked if I wished to see a property close to the sea front. It was a two bedroom older style house on the market for eighty thousand pounds. He said that I could do an extension and make it into a three bedroom house with a dining room. With my mini skip hire job could afford that amount of money. I went to have a look and was really impressed with its potential. I bought the house and made plans to extend it and decorate it. So that is how I came to get my nice little cottage by the sea.
