Lou soon discovered that Marissa was not as easy-going that he initially thought her to be. The petite lady with the soft-spoken manner had a spine of steel within her. She was certainly no pushover, and within that pretty little head was more than air. Lou had not bothered to check that Marissa is one of the smartest employees in the company, with credentials from some of the most prestigious learning institutes in the country. Thus life was not as easy as he had wanted it to be.

It looks like Marissa was in charge – she planned the schedules, checked his proposals and monitored his progress. He was very much the junior partner in the team. He was in fact in awe of her – Marissa thinks fast and could come up with good and creative ideas! This was certainly not one of those ladies that he could so easily con – definitely not like his wife, who seemingly idolizes him.

Now Marissa had assigned him to do something rather ludicrous – she could have given the task to a clerk. He was to do some research on all the waste management companies in the country. She wanted to know the range of services they provide from skip hire to waste disposal, as well as the cost of skip hire in the different regions. The main objective was to prepare a report on the business of skip hire in the country.

Marissa had her own reasons for such a frivolous job, as she had earlier told Eric. She was going on a week's vacation, and so needed to keep Lou occupied. ‘It will keep him on his toes, while I’m not around to monitor him. I told him to find out about skip hire in the region. He has to categorize the services, the types of skip bins and the cost of skip hire in each district. He has to get that report ready by the time I’m back.’ Eric was pleased with this arrangement;he had earlier thought of temporarily assigning Monique or David to work with Lou. He had noticed that Lou was rather terrified of either of them; he told Marissa so.

Marissa laughed ‘Oh, he was scared that David would come on to him. David was forever teasing him, telling him how fair and sumptuous he was. And Monique, that rough sweet girl, really wants to terrify him – she once broke steel rods and bricks in front of him. Just to warn him not to get fresh!’
