Local skip hire is very common here in Australia especially during change of seasons when households do the usual general cleaning. It is however very expensive, in my point of view as a full time housewife, to spend for a local skip hire even just once a year. As the local council here in our place have free services of picking up waste from house hold front yards twice a year, which is part of their waste management program, it is only practical to take advantage of this free services than give the idea of a local skip hire a go. A local skip hire for a size of two cubic feet, which is the smallest, will cost me $220.01 the minimum. This is like waste disposal that costs a fortune.

Being a business minded person, waste disposal for me is an opportunity to earn a bit. Since waste disposal does not necessarily mean I am disposing just waste or trash, it is also getting rid of things that I don't need or use anymore. Instead of putting those unnecessary things in the skip bin I put them on second-hand or garage sale. So the waste disposal services by the local council is really just for "waste" not for things which I can still dispose for few bucks.

One very important thing to put in mind is to be aware of which date in a year does the local council do the waste disposal services. Then proceed segregating the items that I do not need or use anymore and want to dispose. I everything I have segregated for disposal in a huge garbage bags. When it is time for the local council to pick them up I just simply take them out of those huge garbage bags and put everything in front of my yard.

By the time the second waste pick-up by the local council comes I have also already got my huge garbage bags ready. Knowing the scheduled date is really a must.

Local skip hire is more suitable for disposal of items and waste when people are moving out of their house or moving in to another, as well as during demolition in a site or construction sites. But for a simple regular household general clean up, it is just not practical to pay that much. I will never spend for a local skip hire to dispose of my unused and unnecessary items.
