I am a property consultant and I had experience of working in a joinery to make furniture from 1979 to 1984. Then I worked as part of a team that did house extensions and house refurbishment projects from 1984 to 1997. Then I began my own business with a skip for hire, bricks for builders and a furniture showroom in 1997. It was called Joe's Skip For Hire. The skip for hire had proved so popular that I had added to my business another skip for hire, the building materials and the hand made furniture. In 2006 I went into semi retirement and now just keep three skips for hire.

In 2007 I decided that I wanted to do something exciting with my life. I wanted to go off travelling. I spoke to a travel agent called Sue and she had asked if I had ever considered travelling around the world. Then I had gone to my local library and chosen some travel books. I got a book on Australia and then I read it when I got back home. I looked at my atlas and plotted a route taking in all the destinations that I had ever dreamed of visiting.

My route was London to Cairo to Delhi to Singapore to Darwin to Cairns to Sydney to Auckland to Samoa to Los Angeles to London. Sue quoted me a price of £1,230 including airport taxes. She booked my departure for 24th February 2007 and the rest of my dates were fully changeable.

I saw the golden pyramids in Egypt then I had an exciting time in India seeing the Taj Mahal. I did lots of shopping in Singapore. I took a journey from Darwin that took in seeing crocodiles. Then I saw the white sails of the opera house in Sydney. I loved the palm fringed beaches in Samoa. I bathed in some waterfalls and walked in the rain forest. I found so much to so in sunny California. I went to Hollywood and Beverley Hills. I had a day at Disney Land. Most of all I liked it in Venice Beach. I travelled up to San Francisco by hire car. I liked stopping off at Santa Barbara where I liked the yellow sandy beach.

When I got back home I felt so happy achieving my dream of travelling around the world. I did some more furniture making by hand to sell. I want to make even more money because in 2010 I fancy visiting Antarctica.
