For the past couple of months I have been looking into mini skip hire.

For the past couple of months I have been looking into mini skip hire. We already have a few pieces of old furniture cluttering up our garage, which means less space for things we actually want to put in there, and we are now starting some much needed house refurbishment.
We have run out of space to store our rubbish now, we even have an old, past retirement age sofa in the living room because there is nowhere else for it to go, and, short ofhaving agoat the old furniture with a chainsaw, there is absolutely no way I can maneuver any of it into the green bin for the waste lorry to take away! I'm all for waste recycling, and everything we had which could be sold or given away has either been sold on eBay, given to charity shops, or offered on the local Freecycle group. All that's left are the things nobody wants.
We could arrange for the council to take it all away, but we would have to pay a certain amount for eachitem they remove. So we have agreed on mini skip hire instead - we can just hire it for a few hours, put in the furniture, the old bricks and broken concrete fromthe garden, and all the waste we produce during our refurbishments.
It sounds very simple. But of course, it isn't. We have to find the right mini skip hire company, compare prices and ask around to find out if anybody we know has used those companies, and whether they were any good. Then, we have to find somewhere to put all the junk until we have finished the work on the house, or we'll end up getting rid of one lot of waste, and landing ourselves with more. Then we would have to use the mini skip hire again, which isn't going to be cheap.
I hated living in a flat and not being able to do anything I wanted with my home. I looked forward to moving into my own property, where I would be in charge and have the final say in everything to do with the house. And I do love my house, but I sometimes miss having my landlord around to arrange all these things for me. More than that, I miss living with my parents and having their guidance, advice and wisdom whenever I needed it!
