Martin had completed his course and gotten his certificate as a luxury home builder. He decided to start his career with his parents' house as his first project.

Looking at the grey haired familiar face, Martin smilingly asked, "Extending your house sir?" His father raised an eyebrow and looked at Martin. "I'm now a full-fledged luxury home builder, willing to be my first customer?" His father gave a hearty laugh, "Why not? It's about time for a new face-lift."

The old worn-out looking grey house that had housed them for a full twenty years sure needed lots of work to be done but with its sturdy base, Martin was confident that an excellent work would be accomplished. Coming prepared, he showed his proposal to the owner of the house.

"Here's the draft for extending your house," Martin said to his father while showing some beautiful drawings of the house, the proposed work and a drawing of the proposed completed work. "And here's the cost for extending your house."

"That's quite a sum!" his father exclaimed but he was very willing to be his son's first customer. He gave Martin the deposit to start work. Martin wasted no time and immediately ordered bricks, planks, cement and sand, paints and the waste disposal truck. He got the labourers to start laying the bricks.

Inside the house, the family began packing and all unwanted goods were moved to the waste disposal truck. Martin had extended the house to the side so the family would have a bigger living room and an extra room that was going to be his office. The existing living room would become the missing dinning room. The interior and exterior of the house were given fresh coats of paint.

After two weeks of work, the project was completed. Everyone was delighted with the "new" house. Martin calculated the cost for all the materials, paid the labourers and the waste disposal truck, and got a refund for the unused bricks. He made a profit of two hundred dollars.

Martin returned the two hundred to his father who happily rejected. "I'm happy you are able to profit in your business, it shows you are capable. Let this first project lead the way and may all your ventures and projects prosper." The blessing of his father lets Martin began his career with confidence and zest.
