Hi, my name is Zack and I am a design builder. I am married to Susan and well Susan and I like to DIY. We made our house ourselves, we built our cousin's house, we even made a tree hut and a little raft for our children.

One day, we had recently bought a new sofa and a new flat screen T.V. monitor. The problem was, our house was too small, especially the living room. My wife was tired of our small house and strongly wanted an extension of the house. We had lots of backyard space, and doing it ourselves would cut back on the cost..

Extension was the only thing on our minds. We got started two weeks after deciding to extend our house. We bought the materials needed like bricks, wood, concrete etc. We even decided on waste recycling. Anything to relieve the cost of extension. I told my kids to do waste recycling and to put their waste in a waste bin. I would then manually go through the waste, one object at a time. One of my kids said;

"what is waste recycling Dad?

I answered;

"son, waste recycling is remaking waste. Take a piece of ripped clothing, people take that clothing and maybe they could make another piece of clothing.

A month later we were half-way of extending our home. We knocked down the wall and was building a new bit of the home using bricks. We used wood and hard materials for the roof. The kids were loving the bit we were building. They even helped us build it, which was unusual because they had hardly helped us build things in the past. Maybe because they were finally going to have more room in the house, they helped us. I was excited when they helped us, as I always do.

When we had finally finished building the extension, my family and I stood in our backyard, proud of what we had finally achieved. The bricks and roof were neat and in place, and the walls were painted white, exactly the colour we had wanted. I thanked my kids for helping Susan and I to build the extension.

We installed our flat screen and put our couch in front of it. Well after we had electricity and water running to the extension part. My family completely loved it, after living in the tiny house before for 5 years.
