My wife said that I should get a skip hire in after the recent crash with the van outside of a school. My friend suggested I go back to driving school and learn how to drive a van, but I knew he was just kidding. He wanted me to claim insurance after the crash, so I would at least get something back for my wreck of a van.

The crash was actually not as bad as I am making it sound. Yes, it was outside a school, but nobody was killed. Nobody was even injured. That was the beauty of seat belts and airbags. We hit each other, head on, at 70 miles per hour, and yet there was no lasting injury to either of the drivers or to any occupants of the cars. Even their family dog was unharmed.

Which was a good thing, obviously, but I was still without a van, which was a bad thing. Without a van, I'd be out of a job, as my job was to deliver many different packages to various locations located around the UK, and I certainly wasn't going to walk there. I needed some form of a vehicle, which I was going to get, but not until Tuesday. It was Sunday. The package needed to be delivered by Wednesday. Unless I drove late into Tuesday night, it would not make it up to John O'Groats in time.

Without making this delivery, I'd lose my job. If I lost my job, it would have a huge knock-on effect to my lifestyle, as I wouldn't be able to pay the bills, so I would become homeless. My wife would surely leave me and find someone who had enough money and love to look after her.

And I couldn't afford that to happen to me. I couldn't afford to lose the job that I had worked hard for all my life, and losing this would mean having to find a new one really quickly, which I couldn't afford to do. This job was my life and if I couldn't work in this job... I didn't want to live.
